Born in 1983, Minsk, Belarus.
Education: Belarussian State University, Bachelor of Design, 2006; Master of Fine Arts, 2010.
Since early 90-s started to experiment with lo-fi 8-bit graphics, game design, and episodically participated in local demoscene movement. This, together with SCI-FI movies shaped my approach to visual expression.
Simultaneously I was always exhited about crafting, tinkering and building things.
Formal education in industrial and design and art finally shaped me as multidisciplinary creative specialist that able to design product from ide to real-workd implementation.
Through all my career I work in „everything is a start-up“ paradigm. I was responsible for visual and product design in several start-ups, also acting as solopreneur in various creative industries, from web projects to contemporary art installations. Finally I established a boutiqe design agency that ran successfully for 5 years, till August 2020, when I fell under persecution by state authorities for active anti Lukashenko position and was forced to flee my native country.
Currently I and work in Vilnius, Lithuania, as an independent designer and maker.
The area of my artistic research is the cultural border between barbarian eastern-Slavic and modern European culture. My art is an expression of it through my own experience of migration from East to West. Being born behind the 1-st iron curtain, on soviet side, now I witness the erection of a new border, but from the opposite side. In my creations I explore political, anti-totalitarianism topics related to that, as well as social phenomenons of immigration, mental and real.
In terms of media I’m very keen on early SFX and CG aesthetics, as it enforces the my research topics with the state-of-art technology. I aim to varnish the border between computer graphics and real-life making techniques, digital printing on canvas, or plaster molds, indistinguishable from 3D CAD modeling, obsolete soviet computers to create glitch effects – that’s my methods in achieving the unity between formal and conceptual parts of my art.
